BACKGROUND AND GENERAL OBJECTIVE

The international research project, jointly conducted by the Department of Business Sciences (DiSA) at the University of Bologna (Prof. Magalì Fia) and Católica Porto Business School (CPBS) (Prof. Ana Laurenço), aims to analyze the opportunities offered by B Corps to stakeholders. B Corps can be considered as purpose-driven organizations, as they have embraced the mission of generating positive social and environmental impact alongside financial profit.

The main objective is to understand how B Corps organize decision-making processes and implement strategies to balance the interests of different stakeholders and pursue their dual objectives. Through a qualitative methodological approach based on in-depth interviews, the project plans to explore the experiences, practices, and perspectives of a sample of Italian and Portuguese B Corps. Various dimensions will be examined, such as environmental sustainability, inclusion policies, employee and other stakeholder engagement, innovation, and community commitment.

The results of this research will be crucial to enhance understanding of the role and impact of B Corps in promoting a more sustainable and socially responsible economy. Furthermore, the findings and recommendations derived from this research can inform public policies and managerial decisions

WHAT WE DID

The research team at the University of Bologna will start the interviews in July 2023. Of course, active participation from B Corps is essential for the research to be meaningful.
