ASSET MANAGERS ACTING AS IMPACT INVESTORS

TEAM

Federica Bandini, Francesca Pallara, Helen Chiappini

BACKGROUND AND GENERAL OBJECTIVE

The YSBC has analyzed the phenomenon of impact finance with particular attention to the Italian case. The analysis of the current literature has revealed that there is little research that takes a mono-stakeholder perspective and that focuses on a single financial instrument.

Thus, the YSBC has analyzed the Italian social venture capital market which, although characterized by few players, manages to attract a plurality of investors and to convey capital to different companies.

The research framework was built with a bottom-up approach starting from the main evidence that the analysis of semi-structured interviews has raised.

WHAT WE DID

Through semi-structured interviews with major Italian impact investment funds, the YSBC team analyzed the strategies, investment policies and investment portfolios of impact venture capitalists.

The results of the analyzes will be presented at the following conferences:
- The International Social Innovation Research Conference (ISIRC) 2021 in Milan, 8-9 September 2021
- Social Impact Investments International Conference, in Rome, 4th Edition: Nov., 2020 Partnership Events - Dec. 3-4, 2020 Final Event
